I am talking to my husband, and he tells me that in the History Chanel they explain what exactly is going to happen in 2012. Now this is a intelligent man, but also one who is truly fascinated by the whole 2012 thing, because apparently the world is going to end, or we are going to go on another plane, depending who you ask. If you ask me, the only thing that will happen is that I, sadly, will get another year old, and probably everybody else in the planet will too. Now, but back to the History channel, they claim that this year, 2012, will be special because our planetary system will be in the center of our Galaxy. Now if you hear this, specially if you hear it on the history channel (who are suppose to get their facts right) you may be inclined to believe it, please don't. Our galaxy, The Milky way, has approximately 100 billion stars, that is an enormous amount of anything, let alone stars. Stars that are potentially, many of them, like our sun, meaning that they also encompass planetary systems around them. If you manage to picture that immensity in your head, and then you add to that, that we don't even know the shape of our galaxy, we only hope is shape the same way we draw it. Just like 13Th century humans hoped our planet was the shape they were drawing it in. And that we don't even have a picture of our neighbour planetary system. Is easy to comprehend that we simple, just don't know enough to even know in which quartet of space we are located within our galaxy, let alone when we will be in the center of it, if we ever get there. So I appreciate the efforts on the history channel's side to try to pump up their viewership and our egocentric tendencies, but please, don't believe everything you hear, and always check your sources.
